Getting Better, Naturally

Practitioners of holistic medicine have always believed that the body is equipped with means to heal itself. The cure to the disease you are suffering from lies inside you as well. That gentle balance inside your body may have been upset by stress, vices, poor eating habits and a negative outlook in life. This is why oriental medicine has always been rooted in restoring balance to the body through different means instead of simply bombarding a person with drugs and treatments.

There is nothing wrong with scientific medicine. I respect that fully and believe in what they do. In fact, my family and I all have private health insurance to cover hospitalization. I want to be prepared in case of an emergency situation, or should that time come that we would be required to undergo any kind of surgery or therapy. This does not go against our beliefs and practices.

First and foremost, I encourage friends and clients to always take herbal teas through the day. I prepare for them different teas for different ailments. For those who are well, regular green or black teas will do. The teas cleanse the body naturally and flush out toxins which contribute to making the body ill. Too much alcohol, too much fat in the diet, chemicals and preservatives – these should all go. Herbal medicine is also prescribed to supplement Western medicine. For example, a friend comes to me saying he is suffering from hypertension, we recommend herbal supplements like garlic capsules and Gingko biloba. These are all natural and can be taken in their fresh form. However, we prepare tablets and capsules only because they are more convenient to take, especially for working people.

To help promote blood circulation, I still recommend yoga or Tai-Chi and regular massages. Thai massage is a good way to get the blood pumping in your system while the yoga and Tai-Chi helps in centering. Meditation creates a positive outlook and clears negative thoughts out of a person’s mind. These practices may not shrink tumors, you would need a surgeon for that, but it can certainly keep a person centered and well.

Why you should Choose Alternative Therapy: The Advantages of Natural Treatments

21 July 2014,

While modern medicine has made great strides in treating ill people, sometimes, those treatments are not enough. Every once in a while, you might come down with a bug or a pain that pills can’t treat, and it can be a hassle trying to find the solution. This is why alternative therapies have been making waves among the medical community. In fact, these very new methods do have some distinct advantages attached to them, and here’s why.

1. Prevention rather than Treatment

One of the prime focuses of alternative medicine is the prevention of disease rather than treating it when it has already happened. A lot of it has to do with diet adjustment, exercise, and well visits from experts in the field. When all three are combined, the results can be effective and can see long term success. You should really consider these methods if you wish to protect yourself in advance.

2. Natural Therapies Focus on the Whole Body

If you’ve been updating yourself on the latest news on health and wellness, then you’ve probably heard of the dangers of vaccination. While there hasn’t been much evidence to prove them right, pills do have chemicals that can be harmful to certain people. Natural therapy can help you replace those chemicals. Whole body wellness encompasses the individual as a unit. It can deal with the spiritual, mental, and physical aspects of a person, bringing about a sense of completeness.

3. These Therapies are Cheap

Okay, before you go out there and cancel your policy, you have to know that insurance is still important. Natural therapies that deal with music or massage are effective means to alleviate pain, but if you break a bone, there’s very little alternative medicine can do. However, the natural method of doing things can help you cut your medical bills in a big way. Extra cash is always welcome, and you might even be able to spruce up your place with bathroom accessories, among many other little items of convenience.

If you want to learn more, there’s a ton of information regarding natural therapy available online. Keep well, safe, and hydrated.

There are lots of ingredients you can choose from if you wish to have a mouthful of smoothies. However, a lot of these ingredients are fatty and are filled with unwanted flavoring. If you wish to get rid of the unhealthy stuff, but still retain the sumptuous taste, then you have to go for healthier alternatives. These smoothies are not just delicious, but you can take as much as you want without worrying about your health. Here are some suggestions in creating healthier smoothie alternatives:

• Green Apple Smoothie. Basically, you need slices of green apples as your base ingredient. You can get rid of sugar or milk. You can instead use fresh almond as replacement to keep the sweet taste. This is perfect especially if you wish to have less fat and more carbohydrate when you have to hit the gym for energy.

• Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothie. Since you are to use a mint chocolate chip as base ingredient, make sure that you find one that has no artificial flavoring or preservatives. The entire chip itself will already suffice if you wish to have a perfect taste. There is no need to add sweeteners or other ingredients that may cause unwanted fat.

• Mixed Beries Smoothie. You need both red cherries and raspberries for this smoothie. You can also throw in chia seeds for a twist. The best part is that you won’t even feel that there are raw seeds place in the smoothie.

• High Energy Smoothie. This is a smoothie based on luck. You can throw all the leftover fruits that you have from last night and mix them all in for breakfast. You can have bananas, red apples, pineapples, or even vegetables such as carrots and green leaves. When these ingredients blend, you will definitely feel great about your invention. As long as you have fruits that provide high energy such as bananas, then you are good to go.

When you have finally decided what smoothies to create, the next step is to find the right blender to mix all these ingredients. Of course, you need high quality blenders so all ingredients will mix well. If you wish to check out the best blender for smoothies, go ahead and visit here.

Go Herbal for a Good Cause

21 July 2014,

Did you know that around 40% of the global economy market is based almost entirely on biological processes and products?  Take countries like Africa and Asia – two communities that make up a very high percentage of the total number of people in the world.  In many cases, their survival and that of their children relies almost entirely on biomaterials. Eight out of ten people now turn to herbalists and to medicinal plants for their health protection.

WHO and UNICEF

Some time back, the World Health Organization launched a Health for All Program, a program that I heartily backed.  The program pushed for the integration of traditional and alternative forms of healing to be accepted as part of the health care system in developing countries.

A high percentage of the inhabitants of these countries, including the children, rely very heavily on plants for their healthcare. They have few doctors and their hospitals leave much to be desired. In Ghana, for example, there is 1 doctor for around 400 people. Compare that to your local practice.

Because a large percentage of drug products in the developed world are derived from these plants, in theory, it should put money in the pockets of these who grow them. In some cases it does, in others it doesn’t.

The Impact of New Healthcare Proposals

Because of the significance of these plants and herbs in developing countries, both UNICEF and WHO advocated that they must be used as part of the healthcare system and that they would not make any changes that would impact the health of the country’s people.

Herbal medicine has a place in history despite the fact that many shun it today.  Herbs have long been used to treat ailments and diseases and as a protection against contracting certain diseases.  This is why I fully advocate the use of them – not only are you keeping your body and mind healthier than ever before, you are also helping those in poorer countries to survive.

Because of the work that these organizations do, especially in this field, I take it upon myself to donate, to several of their causes, a percentage of my earnings every single month. You too can help yourself and others – change your lifestyle and give other people the head start they need and deserve in life.

Fiji is a beautiful island that’s considered as a romantic getaway for couples. However, even if you’re not traveling with your special someone, it’s still a good place to visit because of gorgeous view, especially its amazing beaches. Enjoy your Fiji holidays doing various activities like island hopping, diving and getting closer to nature.

Get to know the local culture of the people. There are several small villages to explore. One of the things that people in these rural areas practice and believe in is traditional medicine. There are also people living in the urban area that also rely on natural healing before going to the doctor for modern treatment and medication. Fiji is rich with plants used as herbal medicines that were proven to cure different illness throughout the years. Here are some of them.

Botebote Koro

This plant is also known as goat weed. Its leaves are usually crushed and applied on wounds to help stop the bleeding. It’s also commonly used for treating swelling, sores and boils because of its anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.

Totodro

Centella Asiatica is its scientific name. This plant has small leaves, which like Botebote Koro are crushed and applied on wounds to stop it from bleeding. It encourages blood clotting making it possible for the bleeding of the wound to stop. If you have stomachache, you may also pound the leaves and consume the juice that you’ll get from pounding. This is also effective for those suffering from dysmenorrhea.

Vau

Also called as beach hibiscus, it’s commonly seen on the beachside. It’s popularly used for treating swelling due to fracture. Secure Vau leaves over the affected area and the swelling will subside overnight. Aside from being used as an herbal medicine, its bark can also be used as a rope.

Wa Bosucu

This plant may not be the favorite of those who are trying to grow a beautiful garden as like unwanted weeds, it can grow quickly and take over the space. However, it’s not all that bad as it’s also used as a medicine for treating wounds. Leaves are crushed and applied on the affected part.

These are just some of the herbal medicines commonly used by locals in Fiji. There are so much more interesting alternative medicines to discover in the island, which you can explore on your visit there.

How Does Prenatal Massage Help Pregnant Women

7 July 2014,

Pregnancy is accompanied by a host of internal and external bodily changes. These changes account to mood fluctuations, stress, body ache and swelling in different parts of the body. Prenatal massage is one of the most recommended and natural ways of curing different types of muscle aches and swelling related to pregnancy. Here are a few benefits of prenatal massage outlined for pregnant women.

Improves Blood Circulation and Mobility
One of the major causes of swelling in pregnancy is due to poor blood circulation across the body. This can be caused by fatigue, long time durations of either sitting or standing and difficulty in moving around. In advanced conditions, pregnant women also develop a condition of varicose veins that results due to improper blood circulation. Although there are treatments for advanced conditions, such as varicose vein treatment in Phoenix based clinics like www.presantvein.com, but in the initial phases massage can help in improving blood circulation. As blood circulation improves, tensed muscles also tend to relax resulting in better mobility.

Cure for Lower Back Pain
Carrying a baby adds pressure on the lower back, shoulders and abdominal muscles. Prenatal massage targets these pressure points and gently releases the knots in the muscles that cause discomfort to expectant mothers. Trained massage practitioners know where the exact sore spots are and treat those areas with care. Lower back pain increases as the pregnancy stage advances, with regular massage sessions the level of discomfort can be reduced to minimal. It also strengthens the muscles and makes them flexible to endure labor pain preparing the body for the extensive amount of pressure and pain.

Helps in Getting Through Chronic Headaches
Several women also go through chronic headaches that hampers their daily routine during pregnancy. Massage helps in circulating fresh blood and relieving the headache that makes vision blurry and also increases memory loss. Short term memory, which includes forgetting names, place where items have been kept or things that had to be completed, is sharpened with a massage treatment. Pregnant women experience a boost of energy and feel more active and refreshed after having a professional prenatal massage.
