In recent years, the Childhood Cancer Foundation has hosted, in whole or in part, a number of national pediatric cancer conferences:
Past Conferences sponsored by the Foundation:
1994: Childhood Cancer and the Family: Caring and Compassion (Halifax)
1996: Childhood Cancer and the Family: Forward to the Future (Calgary)
1998: Childhood Cancer and the Family: Together We Care (Montreal)
2000: Childhood Cancer and the Family: Together We Care (Toronto)
2006: Childhood Cancer Gold Ribbon Breakfast for Research (Halifax)
The Foundation's Strategic Plan brings new focus and direction to the concept of national conferences. The Foundation knows the value in bringing together childhood cancer leaders, pediatric oncologists, parents, survivors and caregivers to discuss and hear about the latest developments in the childhood cancer fight. Information is power. To give and to share information is to empower. The Foundation wants to do all it can to help families and key childhood cancer fighters have access to the same information in a timely manner.
As a result, the Foundation is working with the C17 Council to develop a refreshed and renewed program of national childhood cancer conferences.
The first conference may occur as early 2006. Watch this site for more information. Parent and Survivor Support Groups will be contacted directly.
When the Foundation hosts a conference, we plan to make available the presentations from the speakers and panel discussions on this web site.
