Brandon Schupp on the Summit of Good Hope Mountain, July 2006
Brandon Schupp, teen mountaineer from London, Ontario, with his little friend Cole Petrie who is battling neurblastoma.
Since Brandon Schupp was just a little boy, he has wanted to climb mountains. In 2005, when he was 12, he climbed his first 10,000 foot mountain - Mount Baker in Seattle. Then, in the fall of 2005 his friend Cole
www.caringbridge.org/visit/colepetrie was diagnosed with cancer and Brandon decided to climb his next mountain to show his support of Cole and 10,000 other Canadian children who are experiencing cancer.
On July 24, 2006, Brandon, then 13, began the historic ascent of the 10,000 foot Good Hope Mountain in British Columbia that's one foot for every child in Canada currently experiencing cancer. When Brandon and his climb team reached the summit of Good Hope, he had begun to fulfill his dream... to use his passion for climbing to help raise one million dollars for childhood cancer.
Now 14 years old, mountaineer Brandon Schupp announces his plans to become the youngest person to ever climb the seven summits, with three expeditions slated for 2007.
Brandon has kicked off his sponsorship drive to fund his climbs up Mount Elbrus and Kilimanjaro (back to back -- 24 days) August 4 – 24 and Mount Aconcagua (21 days) starting on December 16/07. To support his climb fund, Brandon 's Dream - Mountain of Hope , click here www.brandonsdream.com
As Brandon did with his historic 2006 ascent of BC’s Good Hope Mountain (he was only the fourth known to have summited and its youngest climber), Brandon is dedicating his 2007 expeditions to the 10,000 kids in Canada fighting cancer and will use his climbs to fundraise for the Childhood Cancer Foundation, Canada.
