Parent groups in all provinces are an essential lifeline in their communities, supporting each other, sharing experiences and knowledge and helping newly diagnosed families in a myriad of ways.
Despite having to deal with added pressures of childhood cancer, Candlelighters parents organize Family Respite weekends, Mom's & Dad's Nights Out, conduct hospital laboratory tours for newly diagnosed families, hold memorial services, provide family kitchens or Walls of Hope at treatment centres, participate in regional medical conferences, and serve on advisory boards to local hospitals. Each year sees more and more activity and more groups being established, a testament to the real needs the Candlelighters groups fulfill every day across Canada.
There are over 50 Parent Support Groups located across Canada. Please contact the National Office [email protected] for a list of locations.
