"I was drawn to the cause of childhood cancer by the struggle but unfortunate loss of a 2 1/2 year old friend of my family to leukemia. The two year battle by Matthew and his family and dedication of his family to his memory and their survival as a family was and is in my mind unbelievable. I was 16 years of age at the time of his passing. His picture remains displayed in my home today. In each of the houses I have lived in, his older brother and sister will always casually look around until they find his picture."
