The Childhood Cancer Foundation ~ Candlelighters Canada, provides
a Touch the Sky kit to every child diagnosed with cancer in
Canada. This therapeutic guided imagery kit assists children
undergoing cancer treatment to manage their pain and reduce
stress.
Techniques
capture the imagination and release healing potential while
practical suggestions help family members cope with daily
challenges.
The
kit includes:
- two audio cassettes for children including the audio
play "The Lion and Me"
- a parent workbook
- a children's workbook
- a stuffed toy lion
- crayons and bubbles
- all in a Candlelighters backpack
Developed by a team of parents and experts the kits reflect a high degree of creativity and professional care. It encourages parents and children to work together. The techniques are simple and easy to use on a daily basis both at home and in a clinical setting.
The program provides examples of the use of relaxation techniques, imagery exercises and storytelling. Parents will also learn how to develop these techniques with their own child. |
