Online Cancer Resource Store

RESOURCE STORE OFFLINE

Unfortunately, due to our webstore host shutting down, we have had to close our online store temporarily.  We do have a new vendor lined up, but with a new company comes a whole transition of our database/store to their system.  We are planning to have our store back online by mid-November 2003.  Please click back to the site for regular updates.

YOU CAN STILL MAKE ORDERS VIA OUR 1-800 NUMBER

If you were planning on placing an order, you can still do so by calling us through the national office at 1-800-363-1062 (ext 18) or if you are outside of North America, click here to email your order (or find more information) and we will follow up with you within 24 hours.  In the interim, please click here to view the PDF (requires Adobe Acrobat) of our newly printed Online Cancer Resource Store brochure which showcases some of our top selling resources as well as a glance at the over 400 resources we offer.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The Childhood Cancer Foundation ~ Candlelighters Canada would like to offer our sincerest gratitude to Nortel Networks and the following schools: Michael Power / St. Joseph High School, and Father Michael Goetz Secondary School for their dedication and expertise in the development of this new and improved Resource Centre Catalogue and online store. A very special thank you to George Leon for his commitment, and for the time he devoted to the project.

We are proud to be associated with strong community partners like Nortel Networks, Michael Power St. Joseph High School, and Father Michael Goetz Secondary School. It is through these partnerships that we are able to offer the Programs and Services to families across Canada and internationally.

Background information

In 1995, the Childhood Cancer Foundation Canada established the first national central source of information pertinent to children and teens diagnosed with cancer.

Resources have been reviewed

Parents and professionals have carefully reviewed the books included in the 2001 Child and Family Resource Catalogue. We welcome your comments, and as always, we welcome your suggestions on new books or resources that you have found that you think will be of help to other families.

How will this help you?

The material listed in the catalogue is for the use of children and teens living with cancer, chronic illness and special needs, as well as their families and the professionals and volunteers with whom they have contact.

Over 400 items!

The catalogue lists over 400 annotated books, pamphlets and videos addressing the many aspects of childhood cancer, chronic illness, special needs, and their unique impact on all family members, teachers and friends.

The catalogue includes information about childhood cancer, its treatments, symptom management and late effects, and literature that explores coping with special needs and chronic illnesses. Resources that address psychological issues such as handling illnesses and disabilities, school adjustment, siblings, relationships, bereavement and loss are included.

Every book has been discounted

To help make these materials accessible, we have made an effort to discount every item in the catalogue. And one quarter of these resources are free of charge. We hope that this makes getting information about your illness, or your child's illness, much easier.

Library

In addition to the Resource Centre, the Childhood Cancer Foundation Canada has a library of more than 2,000 books, current journals and video/audio tapes for use on site by families and other interested parties. Videotapes are a key component of the library and audiovisual equipment is also on site. The library, plus a current journal file, allows the Childhood Cancer Foundation Canada to meet the ever-increasing number of requests relating to the many aspects of childhood cancer.
